About me...

Hello...

I'm a very young looking 44 :) and I went to college at Newcastle School of Art & Design - studying Newspaper Design & Information Graphics. A long time before I went to Newcastle I was a working musician. I played guitar and wrote songs in a local band, which eventually gained small notoriety not only for the standard of music but the fact that we had bumped into a legendary record producer (Kim Fowley - member of John Lennon's band) at BBC Radio 1's "In the City" music festival (we were doing a radio interview as well as performing later in one of the venues), and he was interested in producing us. To cut a long story short... it didn't work out. We did record with him... but that was all.

So... fast forward 14 years or so... and here I am. I'm a Web/Creative Designer. Which in essence can mean anything. I mean some people are dedicated coders who like nothing better than to sit and code in php, asp.net etc etc. Not me. I like the creative stuff, so that's what I do. I can code HTML and CSS very well, but I'm more interested in the design side of things. I love the work of Jeffrey Way (from a code perspective) and Chris Coyier. I also admire sites like Smashing Magazine, Web Designers Wall, SpoonGraphics and PSDtuts. I'm currently teaching Beginners Web Design at New College Durham for staff development. I'm a keen diver in my spare time, I love to travel, and I still pick up the guitar from time to time and wonder what could've been :)

My main love is Photoshop... I've been using it for MANY years (even when I was gigging), and I know quite a bit about it. So much so that I'm taking my Photshop ACE exam from Adobe. So hopefully you will see the adobe brand on my website soon... which I have to say will be my badge of honour. So there you have it from rock n' roll to web design (sounds like que for a song... no wait... I left that all behind me...).
